Caroline Galon, PhD
Balance Mind & Body
I am a creative psychotherapist with a background in dance/movement and creative arts therapy. I have over a decade of experience in both clinical work and research and I worked with adults and children from a wide range of backgrounds, and with issues such as chronic pain, anxiety, depression, and trauma.
Why do therapy?
Deciding to do therapy is to choose empowerment, because it is really about choosing YOU, and choosing to take charge of your life. Starting therapy is to change your point of view so that you can become the conscious leader of your life. People who go to therapy may not always feel strong or empowered, that is true. But taking the decision to invest in yourself, to pause and reflect, (re)evaluate choices, and understand your own decision-making process – is ultimately choosing change, healing, and growth.
Features
What is therapy good for?
People go to therapy for different reasons, for example, challenges in relationships; transitions; experiencing loss and grief; anxiety and/or depression, stress, or trauma. Whatever the reason is, despite it feeling “small” (or perhaps overwhelming) it is actually better to address it to ensure it does not come to dominate our lives and relationships. If you feel the need to reconnect with yourself, improve your self-care, to better understand a situation or a relationship – therapy can help you to gain insights, tools and to help you to improve your sense of confidence and wellbeing.
Direction
When you are not sure where your life is heading; if you are feeling stuck or even a little bit lost. Therapy can be a great place to pause, re-evaluate and adjust where you are at, to make sure your life progresses in the direction you want it to go.
Relationships
You might struggle with relationships, or want more from the connections you have but don’t know how to make it happen. In therapy, you can identify your needs and wishes and be better able to create positive and healthy relationships.
Boundaries
Maybe you struggle to set or keep boundaries, at work and/or with family and friends. In therapy, you can explore what does saying ‘no’ and ‘yes’ means, and improve your ability to protect your time and personal space.
Anxiety & Depression
If you experience either and struggle to manage it. In therapy, we can look for the root of the depression and/or anxiety to overcome these, and where you can develop helpful tools to overcome obstacles and improve your quality of life.
Change
If you want to develop yourself but are unsure how to re-align your life to support your growth. Therapy is a place where you can use creativity and embodiment to look deep inside yourself for answers and insights that will show you the way forward.

Expats
Moving to a new country with (often) a different language and culture is a really big project and a life change, and settling in is much more challenging than people realise. No matter how experienced an expat you are, it can be difficult to start again in a new place; doing therapy means having that little bit of extra support, and making life a little easier.
Professionals
Having difficult situations at work and unhelpful relationships with colleagues is very common and part of most people’s work experience. As we spend so much time in this environment, it is helpful to address work-related stress and issues before they begin to build up and can be useful to prevent burn-out and maintain your wellbeing.
Virtual practice
Online therapy –
easy and accessible
The virtual clinic is now open. New clients are welcome.
Thanks to technology it is now possible, more accessible, and convenient for people to do therapy online. For example, expats can do therapy in English regardless of their country of residence; people who have long working days can save time on traveling and those who travel often for work need not miss a session because of their work schedule. Also, this type of work will suit anyone who wants to do therapy but prefers the comfort and privacy of their own home.
Technical requirements
- A computer, tablet, or a mobile phone
- A good internet connection
- A webcam and microphone in a good working order
- A video conferencing software or app
- A private space for the duration of the session (so not cafes, public libraries etc.)
Different kind of therapy
Creativity and Embodiment
The approach I use for both therapy and teaching combines talking with creativity and embodied methods. These are tools to help us connect with ourselves and with others. Embodiment can be used to becoming more present and authentic and creativity is needed to find solutions, make changes and envision new pathways. Read more about my approach.
Creativity
Creativity is about seeing new possibilities and is used in all types of exploration and problem-solving, whether in art, science, or business. I offer a space for you to come and connect with your creative side and explore how it can help you to develop and grow.
Embodiment
Embodiment describes how we take information in, process experiences, and can express ourselves authentically, through the body. I offer embodied work as an effective tool that can help you understand and connect better to yourself, and to others.
